Currently I sit at 50 platinum trophies on my PlayStation account. This isn’t much but I can tell you that I have had some great and some bad experiences trying to get platinum trophies. If you want to get into this niche hobby within a hobby I would recommend the below games:
Any of the Life is Strange Series
If you enjoy games with deep narratives, you will love any Life is Strange game. All of their stories have a lot of emotional depth and will hook you in straight away. Dontnod’s writing usually delves into themes that not many games tend to explore which I find really appealing as it makes the experiences more realistic and drawn from life. For content warnings, there are multiple references to abuse, death, suicide, and substance overuse. I would also recommend playing in release order so you don’t get spoilers for any of the stories. In terms of platinum trophies, they are really easy to complete! Most of the games require chapter select to get collectibles if you missed them the first time round. They are also perfect for gamers with limited time as they sit at around 10-15 hours depending on how you play.
Release order: Life is Strange 1, Before the Storm, Life is Strange 2, True Colors, Double Exposure.
Minecraft
I have to admit- I used a platinum trophy server to get the majority of the trophies. That does not take away from the fun that you can have within Minecraft; all the trophies are fun to pursue, even if you do them legitimately. Everything about Minecraft’s platinum is fun if you adore sandbox games and survival. This is due to the majority of the trophies being geared towards the official ending of the game, defeating the ender dragon. Just beat the game and enjoy the trophies! Overall, the trophy that can’t be done without “cheating” is surviving 100 days in survival. Personally I would do as much as possible in those 100 days and find a server to unlock the rest. I would do this because it saves a lot of hassle, even for a Minecraft veteran, whilst making the game still fun.
My Name is Mayo series
The entire My Name is Mayo series basically rips off the cookie clicker franchise, but makes it Mayo!! These games start out purely silly and then evolve into a well thought out brand of absurdity that’ll keep you engaged. The platinum trophy involves clicking different styled Mayo jars as you follow their “story,” which may seem weird at first, but surprisingly, it unveils a quirky narrative that adds depth to the otherwise straightforward gameplay. For those seeking cheap and easy platinum’s, I really do recommend this series. The combination of humorous antics and surprisingly addictive mechanics makes for an entertaining experience that many gamers will appreciate, even if it’s just for a quick gaming session in between more serious titles.
My Friend Peppa Pig/ My Little Pony A Maritime Bay Adventure/etc.
I know kids games are really cringy, but hear me out: they are fun AND cringy to platinum. Most kids games don’t require a lot out of the player to get the platinum trophy, making them easy pickings to get. For example, My Friend Peppa Pig requires you to do what kids would naturally gravitate towards in the game anyway, so it’s simple to complete even if you have to sit through cringy dialogue. My favorite two kids games to platinum were My Friend Peppa Pig and My Little Pony: A Maritime Bay Adventure, but there are definitely more out there waiting to be explored. I would also choose these titles again, as I know that they are straightforward and short. What makes these games particularly enjoyable is the lighthearted nature of the gameplay, allowing you to unwind while still achieving those platinum trophies.
I hope that this has given you some ideas on either how to break into this hobby or extra ideas to play later! Let us know if you have any platinum trophies you have enjoyed getting.
