I’ve decided that I’m going to watch The Hobbit trilogy after watching The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim this month. I’m ashamed to admit that I have never watched any Lord of The Rings Before this movie. (Boo the fake nerd! How dare I admit to that!) Now feels like the perfect opportunity to change that — so that’s exactly what I’m going to do.
Before diving in, here are a few quick thoughts:
- What I know: It is set before Lord of the Rings and has a lot of differing opinions online. I’m not sure if it is a good thing, but I shall see.
- My expectations: I’m expecting a movie of Game of Thrones– just without all of the adult content.
- What excites me most: Diving into a fandom that I haven’t interacted with before. I’m excited to see if I can enjoy it as much as half the fandom does!
- What I’m unsure about: The pacing and/or added story lines — apparently this is a trilogy based on one book. How will it adapt well to three movies?
- Where am I watching?: Blu-ray discs! I bought the trilogy from CEX not long ago. For £10 for 3 movies, I thought why not kick off one of the trilogies.
I’ll be watching them over this week, and once I’m done, I’ll write a full blog post about the trilogy as a whole. This way, I can reflect on the story from start to finish, instead of breaking it down film by film.
For now, I’m just excited to hit play and see where the adventure takes me. Middle-earth is calling — and I can’t wait to step back into this magical world!
