Recently, my local cinema showed Back to The Future as an anniversary screening. As I’ve always loved this movie, and was born in the 2000’s, I was exited to see it in the cinema for the first time. It lived up to my expectations perfectly. The blend of Sci-fi and visuals really worked better on the big screen.

Synopsis

Eighties teenager Marty McFly is accidentally sent back in time to 1955, inadvertently disrupting his parents’ first meeting and attracting his mother’s romantic interest. Marty must repair the damage to history by rekindling his parents’ romance and – with the help of his eccentric inventor friend Doc Brown – return to 1985.

The Experience of Seeing It in a Cinema

The cinema version felt like it was a HD movie. Everything from the sound to the visuals felt like an upgrade from home watching. For scenes like going through time, the added extras really make those scenes pop. When at home, the same scenes feel dull compared to what was on that screen. If you could watch it just once on the big screen- I would recommend.

Audience Nostalgia & Legacy

Since its release in 1985, Back to the Future has captivated many generations. Being able to watch this movie in the cinema for the first time made me realise why. As I only seen this movie at home- seeing it in cinema made it the spectacle of the movie it truly is.
This was a screening for the nostalgic adults out there. The amount of adults compared to younger people were staggering. For them this must have been a trip down memory lane.

As a whole this experience was very comforting. The timeless movie was made more thrilling on the big screen. Even after 40 years, Back to the Future still reminds us that great storytelling never gets old.
