Not long ago, I watched The Hobbit trilogy for the first time. I wrote a blog post detailing my experience with it, and because I enjoyed those movies so much, I’ve decided to watch The Lord of the Rings next. I want to dive deeper into this world. Peter Jackson did a fantastic job bringing a legendary world to life, so I’m really excited for this trilogy.
What I Know / Remember About the Story
I only really know what was shown in The Hobbit trilogy. The themes there were friendship, loyalty, and facing hard times together, and I expect those themes to show up in The Lord of the Rings too. I know that Gandalf, Frodo, and Sam play major roles in the trilogy. I’m also expecting a lot of great action scenes and incredible shots of the large battles.
The Tone and World of Middle-earth
I’m expecting an epic but emotional adventure. Since The Hobbit was a relatively dark trilogy at times, I’m expecting The Lord of the Rings to feel similar, or maybe even darker. I’d really like to see more of the Shire and the Elven lands, as those places intrigue me the most. The designs of their homes are so different but still fit naturally into the world, and I love how unique each culture feels.
The Characters I’m Most Excited For
The characters I’m most excited to see are Gandalf, Frodo, and Sam. In The Hobbit, I really enjoyed Gandalf and would love to see even more of him in this trilogy. He has great wit, and he’s often quite funny. As for Frodo and Sam, I barely saw Frodo in The Hobbit, and I haven’t seen Sam at all, so I’m looking forward to meeting them properly. With friendship and loyalty being such big themes, I’m excited to watch how their bond grows throughout the movies.
Final Thoughts Before Watching
Overall, I’m hoping for a fantastical trilogy centred on friendship and loyalty. Since this is many people’s favourite movie franchise, I’d really like to enjoy it too. Just like with The Hobbit trilogy, I’ll be following up with a blog post about my thoughts and feelings after I finish the series. It’ll be written in a similar style to last time.
