For a few months I have been writing reviews for media I have enjoyed. This is a little project just for me so it won’t be perfect at all. All of what I write here is for me with an audience in mind. I apologies for any big mistakes you may find I do try to edit, albeit minimally.
Books
The Boy in The Striped Pyjamas
If you like a depressing as hell ending then this is the one for you. The story follows Bruno at his time at Out-With and we get to see his friendship with Shmuel blossom. John Boyne wrote the novel in such an innocent way that its was like an actual child was experiencing the story it self. I wont ruin the ending but it devastated me due to this.
Deadpool samurai 1-3
Deadpool Samurai is a cool manga about Deadpool in Japan! This little series is a fun read and is full of jokes and gags. Deadpool is one of my favourite heroes so reading this has been very fun. I also feel like the Japan setting suits his sword skills which is a nice touch.
The Cat in The Cupboard
This was a quick and fun read. It is about Crumble, a mischievous cat that goes on an adventure. I really enjoyed the drawings as they bring Crumbles adventure to life. Rob Brydon should write more books about Crumble!
Games
Minecraft Switch Edition 100%
This month I got all the Xbox achievements on Nintendo Switch for Minecraft. This is the edition to play for me as I can play sitting and laying down. Sure it’s a little underpowered, but I’m a big fan of Minecraft so really cannot complain. If you want Minecraft on the go I would suggest this edition.
Townscraper is a cool little game about making your own town! This is a cosy game and is very chill if you need to wind down. The graphics are cute and every town you make is always different. I have linked the browser demo above so feel free to check it out.
Movies
The League of Gentlemen Live at Drury Lane
This was a live recording of a show that was filmed back in 2001. I liked all of the sketches they had but felt like they were thrown together a little bit. Even though the series can be the same, I would have liked a bit more structure around the sketches.
I did like the Legs Akimbo and the Job Seekers sketches, despite my last criticisms. The “who killed Pauline?” thing was funny to me. It makes sense to have her been murdered as she was disliked in universe. For Legs Akimbo, I love Ollie Plimsols so I can never complain about his appearances.
I liked the concept! Whilst in school I would have loved the naughty kids to have just “ran away”. Although I do hope I wasn’t as much of a teachers pet then Pauline…
This was definitely critical of the school system in a big bit small way. I felt the difference in the classroom pre and post “missing Danny” definitely showed this. It poses the question of- Why keep the disrupting kids in the same classroom as the ones who wants to learn? I think this questions been asked forever and I certainly cant answer it! With the question in mind- I still felt like the ending was disappointing. I There’s going to be no spoilers, but I don’t agree with certain decisions.
